A new me-made bra for my boob-bees 🐝 A few wee A new me-made bra for my boob-bees 🐝

A few weeks ago, I attended @whatbellamade’s Bra Camp at @needlesstudio and I am hooked on bra making now 💕 the thought of sewing my own lingerie has always been an idea floating around my head, but the main reason I hesitated in taking the plunge is that sewing a bra felt really, really daunting to me: how to get the perfect fit, the dizzying array of different elastics, all of the various fabric possibilities, how to know which underwire to use and in which size… let alone the actual process of so much fiddly sewing!

Luckily, attending Bra Camp absolutely gave me both the confidence to make a bra and a perfectly fitting @clothhabit Harriet Bra after numerous altercations! After I finished my first bra (the white lace bra on the last slide), I set out making another using this embroidered bee tulle from my stash.

I’ve written a really long blog post on my thoughts of the bra camp, the pattern and adjustments, and lingerie size inclusivity on my blog 🐝

Pattern: @clothhabit Harriet Bra
Fabric: @sistermintaka Embroidered Bee Bra Tulle [from my stash] / @stephieslingerie [white lace]

My entry into #PatternHackathon2025 is my new roll My entry into #PatternHackathon2025 is my new roller-rink skort 🛼
Love that I can wear this skort and fall over a bunch without flashing the good people of San Francisco…

I started using the #NewLook6547 leggings as my base pattern (swipe to see), and then, quite literally, hacked at the length with scissors to make shorts 🪡 Next I drafted a 3/4 circle skirt, basted it into the upper edge of the shorts, added a waistband and then hit up @churchof8wheels for an evening of skating and listening to some great tunes ✌️

Fabric is an Activewear Lycra from @minervadotcom

I pulled out this clementine print linen-look cotton from my deep stash and made a hacked matching top and skirt set 🧵
I am super happy with how this turned out and I am already planning on making some orange linen high waisted shorts to match this set ♥️

🍃 Finally got some pictures of this dress I mad 🍃 Finally got some pictures of this dress I made with a vintage sewing pattern last year! This dress is extra, extra special, because I wore it on the Sister Mintaka catwalk at the Stitch Festival for the lovely @sandeepbeep 💕
This pattern is about 50 years old and yet still looks so timeless — it’s a vintage Vogue Paris, designed by Nina Ricci (swipe to the end to see the pattern envelope). I love the circle skirt with floating welt pockets, the grown-on sleeve bodice with bust pleats, and the elegant wrap back 🧵
The fabric is a @riflepaperco Rayon/Cotton blend, bought from @sistermintaka! I had it in my stash a while, but I’m happier with it as a dress 😊
😸 Sewing with my kitten Amelie presents many ch 😸 Sewing with my kitten Amelie presents many challenges; she falls asleep on my fabric, she tries to paw at my needle when I’m hand sewing, she routinely chases my thread spools… but I gotta say, the number of pattern pieces that now have a big MONCH taken out of them is the biggest challenge of all 😅

🪡 “Did I ever tell you that this here jacket 🪡 “Did I ever tell you that this here jacket represents a symbol of my individuality and my belief in personal freedom?”

Simon and I went to see Wild at Heart at the cinema and now he CONSTANTLY uses the above quote to reference this jacket I made him 😅

It’s a modified Vogue 1930, with various style and fitting adjustments (full details are on my blog!). The wool is a deadstock suiting from a British designer brand, and it’s lined in silk habotai. ✨

The buttons were nearly the undoing of the whole project… turns out, waaaaaaay too big for my automatic buttonhole foot. In the end, I used my zigzag stitch and bartack stitch to manually make buttonholes big enough, but it was a nerve-wracking experience as the final step. I think I did about six practice goes beforehand! 😅

Fabric, lining and buttons: all from @stonemountainfabric

Hi, it’s been a minute ✨ Things have been toug Hi, it’s been a minute ✨ Things have been tough lately, but I’m hoping Spring will bring some positive energy 🌼

I am LATE to the party on the Donny shirt, but I love it! I’m planning on making another version in black linen and also a dress hack 🪡 I used this flower power cotton/linen blend, which was part of a goody bag from the @bayareasewists frocktails party last summer 🧵

I made a Medium with no other adjustments, so I was hoping that the boxy fit would be fairly forgiving! I think next time I will do an FBA to add a bust dart and lengthen the bodice by another inch or so, but for a quick sew, this works.

Also, this is my entry for #SewAprilBlouse25, hosted by @sewn_on_the_tyne & @cloth_edit 💕

Pattern: @fridaypatterncompany Donny Shirt
Fabric: @lafinchfabrics_new Cotton/Linen Blend
Head over to my blog to read up about my new @jenn Head over to my blog to read up about my new @jenniferlaurenhandmade Pippi Pinafore, made out of the sweetest brocade from @longancraft [gifted] 🪡

I think I kinda need to make another already?! I would love to make one out of a Rifle Paper Co canvas (very @sew.with.joy coded 🥰) or even in some denim! 🧵

I’m wearing this with a @gertie18 Charm Patterns Barbie Top — I wasn’t sure if the mock turtleneck would suit me, but it’s such a good layering piece!
